Cyber Essentials is a Government backed scheme, designed to help organisations reduce the risk of cyber attacks.

To achieve the accreditation, your company needs to implement a number of preventative measures across your infrastructure. These measures not only protect your own company information but also your customer data. As well as providing peace of mind for your customers, Cyber Essentials is often a minimum requirement if you wish to bid for public sector projects.

Cyber Essentials

Cyber Essentials is designed for SMEs. The accreditation is done by self-assessment, answering a number of questions online around the set up of your IT systems and the controls you have in place. Those controls are broken down into five key areas:

  • Boundary firewalls and internet gateway
  • Secure configuration
  • Access control
  • Malware protection
  • Patch management

We are qualified to independently verify your assessment enabling you to achieve your accreditation.

The scheme is available at two levels:

Cyber Essentials

Self Certification

This is an independently verified self assessment. Organisations seeking certification are required to complete a set of on-line questions covering the scope, IT set up and controls in place. The responses are then reviewed by us and certification is granted based on the completeness and appropriateness of responses.

Any company can complete the self-certification process on its own and can achieve Cyber Essentials certification. If your company already complies with other standards like ISO 27001, this would be the easiest and most cost effective way to certify.

We offer access to an online portal which will help you complete the self assessment in a secure and simple manner. We are also at hand to provide any support and advice on completing the self-assessment

The cost of self certification is a fixed price of only £300 (+ VAT). On successful completion, you are entitled to complimentary cyber security insurance, as well as being able to display the Cyber Essentials badge on your website and other marketing materials.

Assisted self certification

This process can seem daunting for many organisations, so we also offer a consultancy and advice service, designed to support you in achieving your accreditation.

We will identify the key areas for you to address, so you qualify for Cyber Essentials.

If you need help designing the processes and controls, we can deliver that for you. And we will help you complete the self-assessment questionnaire to become certified.

The cost of assisted self certification through RightCue is a fixed price of only £600+ VAT
and you are entitled to all benefits of self certification.
